ALAN IRELAND: I was born in England in 1940, and educated at Wen- nington School in Yorkshire. Since leaving England in 1960, I have worked as a journalist (The Japan Times, 1963-1972, and the Manawatu Standard, 1972- ). I live in Palmerston North, New Zealand. WIESLAW SADURSKI: Wis is an artist and poet who was born in a small village near Lublin, east Poland, in 1940. He has published three books of poems and staged numerous art exhibitions. He now lives in Berlin. His website is at wisarts.com.
JOHN MUSGRAVES: John is an American artist who was born in 1963. He has lived with a psychiatric disorder for more than half his life.
CANDY WEI: Candy was born in 1980 and grew up in Durham, North Carolina, where her mother, Jing Wang, taught at Duke University. Her art is inseparable from her struggle with schizophrenia. She committed suicide at the University of Michigan on January 16, 2001.
